Pangpema (Taplejung) – The number of people trekking to the base camp of Kanchenjunga, the second highest mountain in Nepal and the third highest in the world, is increasing. As the glory of this pilgrimage is reaching the country and abroad, the number of people coming here has started to increase. At the moment, foreign tourists seem to be going up and down.
Tourists have come here after visiting various beautiful landscapes. You can go to Sekathum in Taplejung by car and visit the northern base camp. The hotels here are now full of tourists. Foreigners prefer to trek here because of its natural beauty, many mountain views, and clear mountain areas. If you don’t see the crowd like elsewhere, you can also observe the traditional Himalayan activities.

Kanchenjunga at a height of 8586 meters can be seen from North and South Mohoda. Pangpema (5142 m) and Ukthang (4750 m) in the south are the base camps on the north side. You can travel to both the base camps by passing Sele. There are many mountains along Kanchenjunga. There are 4 mountains above 8 thousand meters and 17 thousand mountains above 7 thousand meters. Paktanglung Kumbhakarna is another important mountain here. Some mountains are not even named.
Foreign tourists were seen along the way. Good hotels have been built behind the camp, while tea houses can be found here and there. Kanchenjunga Conservation Area has the record of 650 people trekking from abroad this season. The office has informed that the number has increased this year compared to last year. It is expected that the number will increase as foreigners continue to come.
Both are tourists in the basecap area. Foreigners come in October-November and Chait Baisakh. Nepalis are also increasing in this area. There is a problem in the Himalayan region because mobile phones are not working. When Kanchenjunga is attracting the attention of foreigners, it is important to get the attention of the relevant authorities on the road, hotel accommodation management and facilities here.
